It is widely agreed that early assessment and commencement of counseling and treatment of patients with congenital cleft lip and palate defects improve the overall outcome of the patient from cosmetic, speech and psychological perspectives. However, what resources are available to the aging cleft lip/palate patient? As I have gotten older, I have been faced with treatment challenges and lack of awareness of treatment availability for aging patients born with cleft lip and palate.
